Following on from our episode on the benefits of automation, Paul Sweeney (Pretium Solutions) takes a closer look at how you can get started using automations.

First of all, it’s important to decide what would benefit from automation. Some of the key things to look for in tasks are as follows:

  • Is it a repetitive task? (Those boring tasks like data entry)
  • Is it a fragile tasks? (Easily affected by human error like missed steps and typos)
  • Is it a recurring task? (Things like reminders)

Your time is precious and as a business owner, you may be juggling many roles and feel even more time pressure.

Make your worklife easier by automating some of your business processes. Take a close look at your apps and systems. How is work being done? What can be streamlined?

And remember, start small! Just automating one process can make a difference and it will help get you into an automation mindset. From there, you will start to notice other systems that can be improved and simplified.

As mentioned by Paul, you can learn more about the automation tool Zapier here.
